New Freestyle Centre Launches Close To The Swiss Resort Of Crans-Montana – Chalet Alaia

The very first indoor and outdoor action sports centre in Western Switzerland is due to open in February 2019 – Chalet Alaïa is located in Lens, close to Crans-Montana and will be a world class training facility for freestyle skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels as well as skateboarders and other types of street sports.

Crans-Montana, which is already renowned for its parks (snowpark, bikepark and wakepark), is continuing to develop its choice for thrill-seekers. The latest is Chalet Alaïa, a true temple for action sports, which will be opening its doors in February 2019. High quality infrastructure such as trampolines, indoor ramps, foam pits, bowls and a magnificent outdoor skatepark means it will be possible to enjoy different sports year-round.

Pierre-Henri Mainetti, Sales Manager of Crans-Montana, said:

We are delighted that Chalet Alaïa decided to build their centre here in Crans-Montana. It reflects the dynamic nature of the resort and adds even more opportunities for younger people and families to enjoy the kind of world class facilities that we are creating. Crans-Montana is already well known for its Alpine ski racing heritage but we are now one of the leading destinations for freestyle skiers and snowboarders too. Chalet Alaïa is a fantastic addition to the resorts facilities and we are delighted that it’s opening for this winter.

Children and young people who want to develop their skills can take part in winter and summer camps, practising tricks learned at the Chalet in the different parks throughout Crans-Montana. With over 5,000 metres squared of indoor and outdoor infrastructure, Switzerland will now be able to offer one of the largest and most complete action sport centres of its kind.

In the summer of 2020, the Alaïa Wave will open – the first outdoor surf centre in Switzerland, located in the central Valais area close to Crans-Montana.

    Company Information

Crans-Montana is a chic and stylish ski resort located in the Valais canton of Switzerland (French speaking), around two hours by train from Geneva Airport. Two towns, Crans and Montana, merge together to form the resort and both have their own identities. Sitting on a high plateau above the Rhone Valley and facing south, the views are spectacular, especially from higher altitudes where it’s possible to see Mont Blanc in the west, through to the Matterhorn and way beyond to the east. The skiing is well suited for intermediates, with a wide range of blue and red runs, but there’s excellent beginners areas as well as some more challenging slopes for experts, including some interesting off-piste and ski touring terrain. Accommodation is varied, with a strong luxury element including several 5* hotels and a spread of 3* and 4* options as well as self-catering apartments and B&B’s.
