- Mikey’s Mountain Miles will see participants take to the ski slopes to raise money for charity
- Skiset rental announces sponsorship of the event through its Saalbach store
Mikey’s Mountain Miles, the latest brainchild of ex England rugby international Mike Tindall, is a new winter adventure based in the Austrian ski resort of Saalbach, with teams of four aiming to cover as much terrain as possible raising money for two charities that mean a lot to Mike – The Matt Hampson Foundation and Wings for Life.
The event, which will take place from the 5th – 9th March 2024, will test participants skills on and off the piste and take them on a thrilling distance journey through the 270 kilometres of Saalbach’s extensive terrain. At every turn there will be challenges and opportunities for participants to push themselves, and their fellow competitors, whilst also raising much needed funds.
Mike Tindall said:
“I have run my charity golf day for over 10 years now and have had a great time doing it and helped with some really life changing charity projects off the back of the money raised. But alongside that I really wanted to do something on the slopes as well – what better way of playing hard and raising money than on a mountain! There will be a mix of everything – competitive skiing, cheeky challenges, an amazing Alpine backdrop and plenty of après ski all with the most important element at its heart – raising money for two small but really pioneering charities that do such amazing work. I want to create something that can make a real difference and so if this sounds like something you would be up for, be it on your own or as a team already, come and join us on what is guaranteed to be an experience like no other.”
Arnaud Dufour from Skiset, said:
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Skiset to work with Mike on his charity event in Saalbach and help to kit skiers out with the latest equipment for the slopes, they will definitely need it! Mike is a really keen skier and we loved the idea of this event when we first spoke about it with him. We are looking forward to this challenge and welcome everyone who joins in, it’s going to be a fantastic week”.
Mike has had a long term association with the charities, both of whom are doing world leading work in the landscape of spinal cord injury. Wings for Life has a simple mission to find a cure for spinal cord injury and the Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people with life changing injuries to Get Busy Living again.
Alongside skiing where participants will have a qualified guide to help them navigate the mountains there will be some yodelling, night tobogganing and world class food to round the event off in style giving an exclusive skiing environment.
