Scandinavian Travel, the specialist Nordic country tour operator that organises family ski holidays and unique adventures in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, is offering carbon offsetting on all of its holidays.

It’s the first Scandinavian tour operator to offer 100% carbon neutral holidays and one of the only tour operators to ensure all carbon generated by travelling to each destination is completely off-set.

The carbon neutral program, launched in 2017 by Scandinavian Travel, has now offset over 600 tonnes of carbon in total. The projects supported have planted 250 trees in the UK, protected the same number in the Amazon, helped the development of solar power projects in India, and repaired boreholes in Uganda.

Founder of Scandinavian Travel, Ben Nyberg, said:

As a travel company we feel a very strong responsibility to our customers, local destinations and suppliers to ensure the holidays we offer have the smallest environmental impact as possible. By the inclusion of carbon offsetting as a default for our holidays we help to eliminate the harmful effects of greenhouse gasses. Since 2017 we have committed to making our holidays carbon neutral through various projects including tree planting in the UK and Amazon Forest, solar energy in India and borehole rehabilitation in Uganda.

For the last two years, Scandinavian Travel have worked with AITO (The Specialist Travel Association), pledging to offset their carbon by supporting and investing in sustainable projects based in both the UK and abroad (working with its partner, carbonfootprint.com). For the third year running, they will be renewing their pledge with AITO and launching a new accredited project for the 2019-20 winter season.
