• New direct train from Zurich Airport to Interlaken – Jungfrau Express
  • New single Jungfrau Ski Region lift pass
  • Eiger Express and Grindelwald Terminal – ski lockers and DJ sets
  • First Flyer and First Glider now included in Winter Sport Pass

Jungfrau Express

A new direct train service has been launched between Zurich Airport and Interlaken, reducing the time it takes to reach the Jungfrau region by around an hour and cutting out at least one change. The Jungfrau Express launches on December 11 and runs at regular times throughout the day in both directions.

A full timetable is available online.

Interlaken is the gateway to the Jungfrau Ski Region resorts of Grindelwald and Wengen and a short train journey connects Interlaken Ost with the new Grindelwald Terminal Building, with its shops, cafes and two ski lifts that have dramatically improved the time it takes for skiers and snowboarders to access the mountain, as well as a fast connection to Europe’s highest railway station, Jungfraujoch Top of Europe.

Jungfrau Ski Region Sport Pass

A new lift pass has been introduced for the 2022-23 winter ski season that includes all resorts in the Jungfrau region with the division of three sub-regions (Jungfrau, Grindelwald-Wengen, Mürren-Schilthorn) abolished.

The Jungfrau Winter Sport Pass will offer guests a convenient journey to and from Interlaken with the integration of the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB), with a direct connection to the Grindelwald Terminal.

A spokesperson from Jungfrau Railways said:

“With the integration of the Bernese Oberland Railway, the valleys should be relieved of individual traffic on the roads. In this way, we take our responsibility for ecological sustainability seriously and try to strengthen it”.

The new Jungfrau Winter Sport Pass costs CHF 75 for one day and CHF 385 for 6 days. For young people (age 16-19), the cost of a day pass has been reduced from CHF 53 (Grindelwald-Wengen and Mürren-Schilthorn) or CHF 60 (Jungfrau), to CHF 45 for the Jungfrau Winter Sports Pass. The Jungfrau Ski Region wants to promote enthusiasm for winter sports among young people. The offer for Children (6-15) to ski for free on Saturday remains in place.

Eiger Express and Grindelwald Terminal

The terminal building in Grindewald now goes into its third full winter of operation but as skiers and snowboarders continue to return following Covid travel restrictions, it continues to offer a new experience for many visitors. From last season, ski lockers and a changing area is available to rent on a daily, seasonal or annual basis, providing a convenient link to the slopes directly from the train or car park. Apres ski every Saturday (DJ set) is hosted in front of the energy e-tron bar and during the Christmas / New Year week, everyday.

The Eiger Express cable car takes skiers and snowboarders onto the slopes and connects visitors to the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe station with improved speed, shaving up to 47 minutes off the old journey time. The new Mannlichen Gondola from the same starting point improves the effeciecny to the main ski area between Grindewald and Wengen. This is the most modern tri-cable car in the world and has genuinly revolutinised the skiing area of Grindewald.

First Flyer / First Glider (now included in Jungfrau Winter Sport Pass)

The adrenaline fuelled zip lines on First Mountain, the First Flyer and First Glider, are now available on the new Jungfrau Winter Sports pass. With speeds up to 85 km’s / hour and spectacular views of the Eiger, these 800 metre zip lines can be experienced by anyone with a lift ticket.
