- Leading chalet operator cuts its peak season week for the first time ever
- They offer skiers the chance to stay in some of the best properties at a far less cost than many other premium destinations
- Les Gets has an excellent snow record, especially during February, but are families unnecessarily booking more expensive properties at higher altitudes during February?
Chalets1066, the largest independent chalet operator in the French ski resort of Les Gets, is reducing its prices by an average of 20% over the winter Half Term school holiday week, from Saturday February 15 to 22 2025.
This unprecedented decision has been made because whilst half term week has completely sold out every year in the past by November, a combination of factors means there are still free chalets available as we head towards Christmas.
Chalet Celine, with 4 bedrooms and sleeping 8 people, is available for €3,930, reduced from €4,870 – a 20% discount. Chalet Valérie (luxury), featuring 4 bedrooms and sleeping 8 guests, is now offered at €8,130, down from €9,570 – a 15% saving. Chalet Mahana, with 4 bedrooms and accommodating 8 people, is priced at €4,820, reduced from €5,670 – a 15% reduction.
Mark Nathan, Managing Director of Chalets1066, said:
“we have sold out over the week of February 22 with the Paris holidays, the French have booked up but for the British week, we have never seen anything like it. There’s a lot of pressure on families financially right now and we understand a skiing holiday isn’t cheap, it’s a luxury. We want to sell our chalets over this period and the decision to reduce our pricing by a significant amount was not taken lightly. When you look at the price for a week now for some of the larger chalets they really do offer something far more compelling than other resorts where we are seeing prices two or three times higher for exactly the same type of product”.
Les Gets is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the world’s largest and it’s around a one hour’s drive from Geneva Airport and one of the closest major ski resorts to reach by vehicle from the UK. It has always been popular with families and the resort has its deepest snow base during the month of February with an average of 60 cm’s and a maximum of 130 cm’s.
Mark continued:
“We always have good snow cover in February. We know there’s a feeling that Les Gets isn’t a high altitude resort but when you look at its snow record, and number of skiing days, it is very successful and the middle of February always has good snow cover with runs down to the village open. We think people are choosing to go high, but in the middle of February we don’t understand why you need to – the village of Les Gets sits at 1200 metres and slopes are mostly north facing, we always have snow in February and then when you look at pricing in higher altitude resorts, there’s a huge premium on it, but it’s not necessary. If everything fails, we have a robust snow guarantee – but we have never had to use it”.
About Chalets1066 And Les Gets
Les Gets is part of the renowned Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the largest in the world. Located just an hour from Geneva Airport, it’s an ideal choice for UK families seeking convenience, affordability, and charm.
The resort offers excellent snow cover throughout February, with an average base depth of 60cm and a peak of 130cm. Despite misconceptions about altitude, Les Gets (situated at 1,200m) benefits from north-facing slopes and reliable snowfall.
Mark Nathan:
“Les Gets consistently delivers excellent skiing conditions in February, with runs to the village almost always open. Families don’t need to pay the premium for higher-altitude resorts during this period, as Les Gets offers everything they need at a fraction of the cost. And if the weather surprises us, our robust snow guarantee ensures peace of mind—though we’ve never had to use it.”
