Montreux Comedy Goes Skiing In Les Gets

The Montreux Comedy Festival will for the first time, take up residence in the skiing resort of Les Gets from 14 to 21 January 2023. Top performers from the French and British stand-up scene will be on stage with the sole aim of sharing their jokes and sense of humour with audiences after a day on the slopes.

The French speaking shows take place on 17 and 18 January and English speaking on 19 and 20 January. The stand-up evenings will be held in the Salle de la Colombière, showcasing a range of well-known comedians, with Gérémy Crédeville and Tom Houghton (do you Ski?) headlining the event.

A fringe festival in venues around Les Gets will also allow comedians to reach a new audience.

The festival is a co-production with the well-known Montreux Comedy Festival, a recognised source of comic talent for over three decades.

Information and programme can be found at MontreuxComedyfaitduski.com.

Bookings for the event can be made through the Les Gets bookings website with accommodation packages available.

New Environmentally Responsible Ski Passes

In line with its ecotourism philosophy and to continue its responsible tourism programme, Les Gets is creating wooden ski passes to help reduce plastic consumption.

Designed in the resort’s chic alpine spirit, this new “tag-it” pass will come in a practical credit card format. 40,000 passes are issued per year to skiers and mountain bikers who use the ski lifts.

4-Season Sledge at Les Perrières

For several years, the resort of Les Gets has been moving towards 4-season diversification in order to offer visitors a series of activities throughout the year.

A year-round toboggan is now planned. This large-scale project consists of setting up an “alpine coaster” (toboggan run on tracks) on the Perrières sector at the entrance to the village, as well as the construction of a building for technical equipment and the maintenance and storage of 35 sledges. This initiative forms part of the town’s sustainable development project. There’s a journey time of almost 6 minutes, an ascent of 380 metres, a 714-metre descent and a difference in altitude of 105 metres.

New Sled Dog Experience

Husky adventure company, La Patte Nordic (The Nordic Paw) has launched a new dog sledding immersion experience. Departing one hour before nightfall, the dog walk is accompanied by one or two teams of sled dogs leading to the alpine village of Mont-Caly. There’s a chance to admire the view of the Mont Blanc range. Equipped with headlamps, the adventure ends under the stars. Hikers board the sled and experience sliding down the mountain with their sled dog team guided by the musher.

Total duration of the activity, around 1.5 to 2 hours. Prices: €220 for 2 people.
